Trading Standards Look Into Scam Reports Against Kate Hudson’s Fabletics

Kate Hudson’s company Fabletics is in hot water here in the UK after 1,000’s of complaints calling the company a scam, a criminal organisation and pointing out that they are in breach of British consumer law. Fabletics promotes itself as the celebrity discount website offering women an affordable way to be part of the growing ‘athleisure’ trend when in reality it’s a well documented scam run by online criminals….

You only need to search “Fabletics Scam” or “is fabletics a Scam?” into Google and you’ll get a page full of results confirming that the company is scamming people and no positive feedback at all…

So now failed actress actress Kate Hudson’s fraud company Fabletics has been reported to Trading Standards by 1000’s of irate customers who have been ripped off by sneaky, hidden charges and say they are considering suing the company en masse for compensation with many saying that they want to personally sue Kate Hudson for her involvement.

Minor star and struggling actress Hudson, the 36-year-old daughter of Hollywood star Goldie Hawn, is a co-founder of the company and features prominently on its website and advertising campaigns, encouraging buyers to ‘shop outfits from my closet’

However, once on the website you are bombarded with popup’s offering discounts for signing up as a VIP member. These pop-ups continue throughout the checkout process stating that you can save 10% 20% and even 50% by just becoming a VIP member with no mention of a member fee unless you go hunting through pages and pages of terms and conditions.

One sneaky trick the criminals at fabletics use is calling their VIP membership signup a Quiz.. Yes a Quiz.. which is a false statement so is a breach of British consumer law.

any legitimate shopping websites offer discounts for signing up as a member so that they can email you with offers and keep in touch with you, however with Fabletics it’s just to pre-authorised your credit/debt card so that they can sneakily take future payments which is nothing more than a criminal act.

The scam works with so many people because during final checkout and payment there is nothing added for membership so of course you assume it’s the usual free membership sign-up that you get with legitimate websites. But what Fabletics do is wait 2 or 3 weeks and then make another charge to your card for £49 (their absurd VIP membership fee) and if they get away with it (many people don’t check every transaction especially if they have a joint account with their partner) they make the charge every month scamming £1000’s out of some people.

The practice of automatically charging every month for something you do not want nor asked for known as ‘inertia selling’ is in breach of British consumer law meaning that even though they may get a away with this scam in the US here the UK they are in hot water and could face fines and compensation orders in the millions in the coming months.
